The Great Race!

It's that time of year again. Students can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel- summer is just around the corner and this next two months is the long haul. Current school- teachers are preparing for year- end testing and wondering if they will be in the same grade/school for the following school year. All of the greenies and recently graduated have now began the Great Race for job openings and new opportunities to show their fresh knowledge and creative new tricks. I, myself, am part of this so called greeny department. I have been able to substitute teach in both Salt Lake City School District and Clark County School District. I am anxious to be moving back to Salt Lake this coming summer and look forward to more job opportunity in my field. Despite my anticipation for new adventures to come, I have had an amazing time here in Las Vegas! It has offered me a chance to experience an amazing variety of culture and placed me in classrooms with children from as wide a socioeconomic scale imaginable. I love that I can say that I have taught students from every racial background, coming from both wealthy and poverty stricken environments, some being raised by the most cooperative and willing to help parents and some with no parents at all. Working with this young individuals reminds me everyday why I chose to become an educator. My Great Race has just begun...
